– The Shell logo is one of the most famous logos in the world. It depicts a seashell in red and yellow and it stands for Royal Dutch Shell Company, commonly known as Shell. This is a multinational oil and gas corporation founded in 1907 and it’s headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands. It’s one of the biggest companies in the world at the moment. Created by the merger of Royal Dutch Petroleum and UK-based Shell Transport & Trading, it is the second largest company in the world, in terms of revenue and one of the six oil and gas “supermajors”. You are going to find Shell oil or gas at any station when you need to fill up your car. The subsidiary company represented here is not doing so bad itself, the shell-shaped red and yellow symbol is one of the best known logos in the United States, and there are approximately 25.000 gas stations bearing this brand there.
– The company’s products include the oil itself, as well as fuels, card services, exploration, exploitation and refining of petroleum products. Unfortunately, the company was also involved in various controversies, including also a scandalous human rights issue that was quieted for the moment through a court settlement. The problem is the fact that the company tried to hid the negative impact of its actions over the Niger delta and resorted to illegal practices in the attempt to cover its tracks. The company’s actions were eventually unraveled by Amnesty International and led to the settlement, though the corporation still claims to be innocent of the charges, or hasn’t yet responded to some of them.
